Drink of the Week

The drink for this week is
whatever is in your flask, or whatever is closest to you.  When traveling with family/children, it is always good to have some medicinal alcohol nearby.

Another Crazy Weekend

We're gearing up for another long weekend.  Headed up to camp.  I would rather not go, but the kiddos love it.  Bill is losing his mind, cleaning out the car.  The kids haven't stopped bugging us about when we're leaving.  I just want to get away from everyone, but who knows if that will ever happen...

How Busy Can Somebody Be?

Man, Oh Man!
We had a loooooooooooooooong weekend!
Jared had a soccer game Saturday morning.  The weather held for that game, then he had a hot dog while watching Daddy do this:

Then Mommy wanted a hot dog, and we sat under the pavilion to eat, and the sky opened up.
And it poured. And poured. And poured harder.
So then we go home.
Nope, not home.  We had to go put drinks in the church fridge for the Girl Scout picnic that evening.
Good luck with that.  The rain is supposed to continue.
So then I had to go buy a couple of other things,
THEN we went home.
For a couple of hours.
Then Dad came home.  Chloe was off with the youth group doing community service.
The hot dogs weren't enough.
We went to McDonald's.  Got a Shrek Happy Meal.
Wicked Awesome!
Onto church for picnic (mostly indoors.)
Made it home around 10.

SUNDAY was the last day of Sunday School, and the SS program in church.
We practice during SS, and practice goes over an hour!!!!!!!!!!!
Church starts, kids are behaving,
program time... Jared does AWESOMELY!!!
No sermon, so church only goes a little late.
But after church is a - PICNIC!!!
Yep!  Another one.
And the main dish is - Hot Dogs!
Then the youth group plays its concert.
They do an amazing job!
Then there are fun games in the sun, and my 5 year old was team captain in Ultimate Frisbee!
We got home around 5, and we all CRASHED!

My Loverboy

I have to share about my Peanut.
He is a LOVER.
It's all about the GIRLS.
He has a fiancee, a girlfriend, and all the rest that he loves.
He's not loyal to one, but loyal to ALL.
Notice
the
look
of
bliss
on
my
Peanut's
face!

Thinking about crafts...

Today I am sitting here thinking about a project I'm working on, and also thinking about a decision I made to sell my stuff at a craft show in the fall.  I haven't committed yet, so I can still think about it.  I am wondering if I should shelve the idea for next year.  As I work on a project for pleasure, I feel guilty that I am not working on my show stock. Hmmm... what to do...

Drink of the Week

This week's drink is the Passionate Dream!
I have all the ingredients ready for this one.  I can't wait for some cocktail time later.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 6 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 cups vodka
  • Club soda

Directions

In a pitcher, combine pomegranate juice, cranberry juice, sugar , lime juice, and vodka over ice. Top off with club soda.

Why do I even talk at all?

I talk, they don't listen.
Especially the girl.
She drives me nuts.
They fight when she tries to be his parent.
I constantly tell her that I am the mother and I will deal with him.
Why?
What's the point?
Nobody hears me, they are too busy screaming at each other and fighting.
I am just so sick of it, and the thought of summer without school is
just plain frightening.

The fridge is not looking good.

Ugh.

The crappiness continues...

So I wake up this morning to the Hubster telling me that I have to help him get stuff out of the freezer.
The fridge half is fine, but the freezer side is warm.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggghhhhhhhh!
This means that food is lost, and sometime soon we will we buying a new fridge.
Yay.
Then I take Jared to preschool and run to WallyWorld to get cleaning supplies for the house.
I hate WallyWorld, but they have the ink for our printer.
So I go get Jared from preschool, where he runs out the door in tears.
I try to figure out what's wrong, and he didn't get a sticker.

Well that usually means that the child was misbehaving, but he was first out the door.
So I was confused.
Mrs. Teacher usually holds misbehaved children until last so she can share with Mom.
Well, after a long, sobbing drive home, I found out that Mrs. Teacher ran out of stickers.
She told Jared to have me give him one when he got home.  No problemo, she knows we have a sticker behavior chart.
But to a little boy with special needs, that sticker is a badge of honor, and all he knows is that he came out without one.
My heart just broke for him.
When I opened his backpack, of course there was his reward ticket that he gets when he is a good boy.
He finally calmed down when I gave him a sticker at home.
Then we went to the library and I went home the wrong way...
Cue sobbing.

One of those days...

Cold & Rainy
Spilled coffee on myself.
A Sprite exploded in my lap.
My throat hurts.
My children aren't cooperating with us.
Jared is having a bad day, too.
His bad day is having an effect on my bad day.
A big effect.
I'm fighting the urge to scream.
I know it won't help.
He doesn't understand why his constant repeat questions are annoying.
He doesn't understand.
I don't understand why his brain makes him ask me the same question over and over and over and over, even though he KNOWS the answer.  Why does he NEED me to say it?  Why me?  Why not Daddy?
Why am I the one that seems to be the most upset?
Well, I know that...
He's Momma's boy.  And that is why I don't scream.  Why I don't run.  Why I calmly answer the same question over and over and over and over.
Because that sweet little boy calming down from another tantrum is Momma's Peanut.  And he'll make me laugh when he toots in my lap.

Drink of the Week

This week's drink is the Mojito!

I have had 2 in the past week.  So yummy, and you can get the fresh mint in your grocery store's produce section.  Here's the recipe.

Ingredients

  • Ice
  • 6 ounces light rum
  • 12 mint sprigs, or spearmint, 8 roughly broken apart
  • 6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • Club soda
  • 4 slices lime

Directions

Place ice in beverage shaker then add in the rum, 8 broken up mint sprigs, lime juice and sugar. Shake well and serve over ice in a high ball glass. Top off each glass with a splash of club soda.
Garnish each with a slice of lime and a sprig of mint. Enjoy!

New Blog, New Day, New Cold

As I sit here sick as a dog with a head cold, I finally have the time to start a new blog. In the time that has past since my old blog went into the wind, our lives have become even more hectic!

We recently found out that Jared has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS.
It is on the Autism spectrum. We were shocked when we found out. We were expecting to hear that my Peanut has OCD, but that is just one symptom.

As a result, we are up to our eyeballs in paperwork for Social Security, an Access card, and on top of that all of the forms to get him into kindergarten.

Also, we are at soccer 5 days a week for both kids. Chloe plays travel for SP, and Jared plays in-house. He is no longer sitting in my lap while his friends play. He joins them and takes the ball off of them! Chloe is playing defense, but doesn't like it very much. She would rather referee (and make money!)

When I'm not sick, I am helping to teach Sunday School for Jared's class. Girl Scouts is over for the year, except for our picnic.

So now that we are mostly caught up, I will blog more about our lives, my craziness, cooking, drinking, crafting, crocheting, zoo keeping, etc.
Ciao!
